Synopsis

A John Hughes-esque adaptation of Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice", Sharon is My Name tells the story of Sharon Rosenberg, her brother Sam and his best friend Warren- who pines for Sharon. Together they are all trapped for an afternoon in detention with the tyrannical Mr. Morris. When Morris starts condemning "The Merchant of Venice" as a piece of Anti-Semitic filth, Sharon must decide how far she's willing to go to defend the play she loves so very much.

Performance History

Sharon Is My Name was commissioned by the Northwoods Ramah Theatre Company in November 2009, and performed by the company in Conover, Wisconsin in July 2010, directed by Annie Levy.
