Last year there were a variety of shows that came and went that I had every intention of seeing, and ended up not doing so. I’m hoping to break that not-so-proud tradition this year, by actually doing the things I would like to do (how about that). Hopefully by listing them here I will actually do them:

• Soul Samurai- I’m super excited for the Vampire Cowboys latest adventure. I reviewed their show, Fight Girl Battle World, last year, and it was definitely one of my favorite shows of the year. From their description, this latest one promises to be a fusion of blaxploitation and samurai movies- a little bit of The Warriors and a lot of The Last Dragon.

• Universal Robots- This was a play that I missed last year, and I have no intention of doing so again. I’ve be interested in Karl Capek (the Czech author who created the word robot) after reading “War with the Newts” many years ago. It says that its an “alternate history of the Twentieth Century, imagining the invention of the robot in 1921 and chronicling the shocking consequences of that invention right up to the present day.” I’m very glad to have the opportunity to take this one in.

So that’s what I’m excited about. Let’s do it. February is just around the corner.
