Opera at the Movies

Interesting opinion piece in the Times about Peter Gelb’s new program, that broadcasts live opera performances into movie theatres around the country.

My only qualm: is it really that hard to get to the Met from Queens? From places in Manhattan? Tickets are $25 for the movie-fied versions; for $20 you can sit in the front of family circle, which has remarkable acoustics, for $10 you can stand at the back at orchestra and maybe get a seat at the back by the end of Act i.  Sigh.
